US Capitol Historical Society Webinar on the State of the Union Speech for Capitol Kids

On Monday, February 28, 2022 at Noon EST, join the U.S. Capitol Historical Society for the first installment of its new Capitol Kids series! Award-winning public radio journalist and children’s author Kitty Felde will talk about her latest book State of the Union: A Fina Mendoza Mystery. In the novel, a mysterious bird poops on the head of the president during the State of the Union address. Can Fina, the 10-year-old daughter of a congressman, find and uncover the secret message brought by this bird?

This program, designed for younger audiences and classrooms, will explain what happens at this important annual event and include an opportunity for audience members to pose their questions to Ms. Felde. Like all USCHS events, this program is free and open to the public.

Meet the Author (and eat cake and play a special version of cornhole...)

Hope you can join me and my favorite artist Imelda Hinojosa at our FIRST book event for State of the Union: A Fina Mendoza Mystery. You’ll learn about a mysterious mythical bird from the Bahamas called Chickcharney, about Congress’ latest work to pass immigration reform, and have the opportunity to take a selfie with our own Senator Something. (He’s a big orange dog, not a real lawmaker…) Join us!
